Union Tourism Minister and Chairman of National Tourism Advisory Council (NTAC) Shri K J Alphons said that Statue of Unity, now being world’s most favored tourists attraction will by next year, witness almost 5 million visitors. Almost 1.39 crores new jobs have created in the tourism sectors in last four year, Minister informed.

He said that since Prime Minister Shri Narendra Bhai Modi has Inaugurated the world’s tallest Statue of India’s Iron Man Shri Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel, the tourists from all over the world have started to pour in Gujarat as well as in India considerably. We have to tap the tourists’ flow and converted into the regular promotion of various Tourist destinations of Gujarat and another part of the country. 

Union Minister emphasized that the Government is keen to see this target is achieved by way of promoting SOU globally synchronizing with National and State tourist destinations, with the help of State government and other stakeholders. We will develop SOU as an Iconic site with world-class infrastructure and tourism facilities, he added.

Today, Union Minister Shri K J Alphons held a meeting with Gujarat’s Principal Secretary, Shri S J Haider IAS, MD, TCGL & Commissioner of Tourism, Shri Jenu Devan IAS at Kevadia. Thethe Narmada district authorities along with NTAC members, to discuss the road-map for the global promotion of the world’s tallest statue, The Statue of Unity.

Principal Secretary Shri S J Haider briefed Union Minister on the development of tourism in Gujarat. Commissioner of Tourism Shri Jenu Devan also gave details of the tourism projects being undertaken in the state. 

Shri Alphons praised the Gujarat Tourism development witnessed in last many years and said that central Tourism Ministry will extend all possible support to boost tourism and hospitality industries in the state.

He, while defining the objectives and the efforts for the promotion of SOU to be made globally, in collaboration with state Government outlined various initiatives and steps to be taken by Tourism Ministry to meet the target.

Union Tourism Minister is in Kevadia for a two-day visit with the members of NTAC members for the planning of promotion activities for SOU. Experts from the hospitality, travel and tour industry have also been invited to attend the meeting.

State Tourism PS Shri S J Haider also welcomed the Union Tourism Minister and expressed the happiness how Union Government is involving itself in highlighting the achievement of Gujarat in Tourism such as Statue of Unity.

He also thanked the Union Minister and said that State Government will pour its all efforts to popularize and promote for the world’s tallest statue of the iconic leader Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel is 182 meters tall.

Union Tourism Minister Shri K J Alphons today, flagged-off the electric e-Bike, an eco-friendly tourism initiation at Statue of Unity, Kevadia.

On this occasion, Shri S J Haider, IAS, PS, Tourism, Shri Jenu Devan IAS, MD, TCGL & Commissioner of Tourism, Shri I K Patel, IAS, Narmada Collector and Dr. Jincy Wilium, IAS, DDO, Narmada district and other dignitaries were present.

While flagging off the e-bike, Union Minister said that the e-Bike Tours will provide an immersive experience to the tourists, allowing them to explore the beauty and history of the Statue of Unity and the surrounding areas in an eco-friendly way.
