Whenever I think about Kerala three things pops up in my mind- backwaters, tea gardens and Ayurveda massage. I have a fascination towards the holistic heeling & rich heritage of Ayurveda. I always look forward to pamper myself after a long tiring journey of photography. I work hard and I believe in indulge in luxury and relaxation as much as I can after a long day.
Kerala Ayurveda massage and Panchkarma was on the top of my bucket list when I was preparing my itinerary for Kerala. The sight of the board of Oceana wellness spa in the lobby made me happier and I ticked another item on my list. It’s one of the well-known spa chain in the world. I decided to try the spa very first day so that I could rejuvenate myself and enjoy a relaxing massage. I was invited to review the spa, and trust me I had the best time of my life there.
THE AMBIANCE
It was a rainy day, rain made everything clean and beautiful, the whole resort was covered into the mist. When I entered in the spa I felt it was quite calm and relaxing with the fresh fragrance of lemon grass. The dim light of tea light candles were adding soothing effects to the ambiance. Before the selection of the treatment I had a long conversation with the spa manager. He described the treatments in details.
THE TREATMENT
They are offering a range of massages right from international massages like Swedish Massage Therapy, Aromatherapy Massage, Hot Stone Massage, Deep Tissue Massage, and Reflexology to Authentic Kerala Aurveda massages like Abhyangam, Ayurveda Panchakarma, Panchakarma, Shirodhara etc… followed by hot Steam Bath with eucalyptus aroma oil fragrance.
They also have a range of beauty treatments like body polishes, body wraps and facials for man & women.
I was asked to choose a therapy but trust me I got confused after getting to know the long list of the treatments so I asked the manager to give me best of the treatment of his choice.
I initially planned for 1 massage but got so much relaxation that I wanted to come again next day. The lady who performed the therapy was truly gifted with the ability to read a person’s muscles and body by touch. She understands the different pressure points, areas of stress very well.
I opt for the full body massage, and from the beginning felt like I’m out of this world. The lady used her fingers and hands to soothe my body muscles in a methodic way, and the touch of the warm Kerala herbal oil was marvelous. The whole session was so relaxing that made me sleep for a 15 min. She treated me of my back pain which had been troubling me for a very long time.
The best part of this whole treatment was the hot Steam Bath with eucalyptus aroma oil fragrance. I felt like I am getting rejuvenated from inside out.
They offered me green tea after the session. I definitely feel you should come and find out for yourself. Your body will love you afterwards. After spending two hours in the Spa I was calm, restored and rejuvenated for my next journey.
The Kerala rejuvenation massage and treatment is excellent and must try for all. The Doctor and other staff are knowledgeable in their domains. They were also quite pleasant and courteous. Overall it was a great and valuable experience.

How to reach there:
From Kochi/ Kottayam/ Alappuzha
Drive to Adimali via Neriamangalam.
After travelling 8 kms after Adimali turn right at Iruttukanam Junction.
A place called Anachal comes after a distance of 6 kms from Iruttukanam junction. About another one km from Anachal on the Munnar road you arrive at Thattathimukku bus stop. A left turn from the bus stop leads one to a concrete road. Drive slowly on the concrete road for about 50 meters after which you need to take a right turn for another 50 meters. Take a left here and drive for another 100 meters to reach the Munnar Tea Country Resort.
From Thekkady/ Coimbatore/ Bodimettu
Drive to Munnar town and take the Ernakulam route for 10 kms until you reach 2nd mile.
Take a left and drive for 1 km to arrive Chekuttanmukku Junction.
Take a right and drive on for 1 km to arrive at Thattathimukku bus stop.
Drive slowly on the concrete road for about 50 meters after which you need to take a right turn for another 50 meters.
Take a left here and drive for another 100 meters to reach the Munnar Tea Country Resort.
